Implementation Shortfalls

Those Damn Consultants Told Us What Time it Was!

We’ve all been there before… we’ve hired a group of consultants to come into our operation and tell us how to make it run better (produce more, sell more, cut expenses, etc.)  To add perspective, here at Pathos Leadership Group we’ve been on both sides of the table, as we’ve not only been the consultants, but in previous lives we’ve hired consultants as well.

The reports these consultants developed were first class, and the implementation plan seemed easy to install at the delivery meeting.  There were lots of handshakes exchanged, maybe even a few high-fives.  But then something happened upon implementation… the wheels fell off!  Not only was the new plan not easy to install (or as easy as those consultant’s said), but our people were nowhere near ready to assist with the installation plan would have lead us to believe.  It couldn’t have been us in the organization, so it must be those damn consultants!

In 2007 while performing a series of Leadership Development workshops around the country, Sam Palazzolo CPLP PCC, Pathos Leadership Group’s President and CEO made a breakthrough discovery.  One of the participants in the leadership development session approached Mr. Palazzolo during one of the breaks and said “I love what we’ve talked about this week, but I know that I won’t implement it on my own.  Would you coach me?”  Thus was the initial spark for the passionate flame that would ignite at Pathos Leadership Group regarding coupling world-recognized training sessions with executive coaching.  The outcome: Built into the coaching equation is responsibility and accountability that leads to results that can be measured and managed accordingly.
