How Coaching Works

Each month, we’ll hold coaching sessions 3 times.  Depending on the Coaching Package selected, the coaching will either be face-to-face or virtual (Over the phone, Skype or Live Webinar Event).  Because the majority of our coaching is done virtually, it doesn’t matter where you are geographically located (We have clients North to South/East to West in the America’s as well as Europe!)

In each session, we’ll identify on one or more goals that you’d like to work on (Perhaps areas in your business that are holding you back or an area in your life where you’d like to increase your potential).  We are equipped with assessments and coaching tools to help you discover:

  • What your “real” goals are
  • Where you want to go with your professional or personal life
  • What’s standing between you and success
  • How to create your ideal future

Just as you commit to success, we commit to assisting you in getting there!

What is the Coaching Relationship?

Our relationship is a strategic partnership.  Our clients have termed it a “skin in the game” one, where we have just as much on the line as you do.  The chemistry between the coach and the client is the key to our mutual success.  We are not therapist (See next section), nor baby sitters.  We are professional coaches that will work with you towards the successful attainment of your goals.

What is the Difference between Coaching and Psychotherapy?

Coaching is about successfully moving towards your goals.  Coaching is about creating the professional and personal life you desire and deserve.  Psychotherapy’s focus is on healing emotional pain or past emotional trauma.  We adhere to the International Coach Federation’s policy regarding coaching and therapy whereby in the event that such therapy would be beneficial we will refer you to a trained professional who is better equipped to work with you and provide assistance.

 Will there be Assignments?

Oh, yes, there will be assignments!  Our coaching sessions are very powerful, but focusing on your goals once a week won’t move you forward towards them.  Each week we’ll design actions, as well as manage our progress and accountability.

Is there an Overall Coaching Plan?

Each week you will be asked to identify the key learning moments from our session, as well as the determined action plans.  This summary will be coordinated and sent to your coach.  The coach will review the document for accuracy, and utilize the summary in an effort to keep us on target/on time.

 What is the Commitment Required?

Are typical client engages with us for a period of eight (8) months to two (2) years.  Upon “graduation” from their coaching program, they stay engaged with a maintenance coaching process.  We also continue to strategically partner with them most often in a “surrogate” Chief Learning Officer capacity, providing our World-class training and development (See Services – Training).

 Is Pathos Coaching Ethical?

We adhere to the strict Ethics policy outlined by the International Coach Federation, which in part reads “As a professional coach, [we] acknowledge and agree to honor [our] ethical obligations to [our] coaching clients and colleagues and to the public at large. [We] pledge to comply with the ICF Code of Ethics, to treat people with dignity as independent and equal human beings, and to model these standards with those whom [we] coach. If [we] breach this Pledge of Ethics or any part of the ICF Code of Ethics, [we] agree that the ICF in its sole discretion may hold [us] accountable for so doing. [We] further agree that [our] accountability to the ICF for any breach may include loss of [our] ICF membership and/or ICF credentials.
